Sit Pretty!

So, since yesterday, Georgia's already learned "Sit Pretty!" aka Beg. :) It's very cute, and the hand signal I use for this is a closed, raised fist, almost like a high five but my hands closed. I taught this because I already knew she was very good at balancing (her record is 2 minutes, measured after she learned this). How I taught this was show her the treat I held (cat food xD) in my palm, and then closed it, I then pushed it towards her nose and up so she followed it. Hence where I got my hand signal. She will do it every time when I kneel/sit and it still working on watching me when I stand in front of her.

I have a video, but I'm currently trying to get it to work in iMovie, soo.. I gave you that picture as a teaser. :D

An Introduction to GEORGIA! :D

Hey! My name is Kyra, but I go by the alias "Kyee" over the internet. I'm almost 15, a highschool student and own a Chihuahua/Pomeranian/Shi Tzu! But you'd know all of this if you've read my 'About Me' overr.... there -> Somewhere. xD

I'm guessing you want to know more about my girl, Georgia. She's four years old, super cute, and a dork. We got her when she was 6 months old, from a 'family friend', who is pretty much a puppy mill. =\ She's VERY timid, and is also relatively dog aggressive. This is because she was in a kennel with many other dogs - her siblings, parents and others - and would have to fight for food or space. She was also yelled at and we think maybe abused, but are not sure. That's why we rescued her. :)

Over the past 2 years that we've had her, I've taken her to a beginner obedience class, as well as made the dog park a regular occurrence. We started out by socializing her with friendly, small dogs that we already knew, since she will go after large dogs and wanted to start slow. She is now able to play with all the other little dogs at the dog park, AS LONG as they give her her space. If they don't, she sometimes will snap. We're working on this.

A list of her current tricks areee:
  • Sit
  • Down
  • Shake Paw
  • Spin
  • Come
  • Crawl
  • Focus
She doesn't down, spin or come very well though, which is what I'm working on. We're also working on exposing her to different situations slowly, like pet stores, dog-friendly stores, parks, and pretty much anywhere she's allowed into, to help her get over her timidness.

I'll try to keep you updated every day, at least every week! I'll also try and get pictures up all the time. :)

-Until next time, Kyee!
